Meyer / Gourlay Cabaret @ Bobby’s Eastside (FREE)
Dan Meyer (music), leader of the Dan Meyer Choir, and Jonathan Gourlay (lyrics) have been making songs together for over twenty years. They met on a rain-soaked island in the central Pacific and since hitting it off have had their songs performed internationally. The Baltimore Sun called their musical Welcome to Micronesia! “a musical adventure in paradise.” The Meyer / Gourlay cabaret is a collection of songs from their collaboration which are sexy, frothy, sad, serious, fun — you know, cabaret songs. Numbers from Meyer/Gourlay catalog such as “I Want a Man with A Lived-In Face” and “I Don’t Smell like Smoke, I Smell like Fire” will be brought to life by Dan’s elegant, slinky piano and four kick-ass local singers: Amy Beane, Dan Fox, Kristin Gourlay, and Ryan de Ryke.
