Freaky Friday Auditions - Theater for Charity


AUDITIONS FOR Theater for Charity: Performs “Freaky Friday.” For RELEASE: Immediately We do Theater for Good! This is an OPEN Casting Call – meaning all roles are available to all people regardless of experience, gender or race. Theater for Charity's mission is to create quality theater "for good" to impact our local communities positively. Each season, we select a local charity that will receive our support. All profits from our productions are given to a charitable organization in our local area. Our 2023/2024 seasons charity was A.D.O.P.T. pet shelter in Naperville. (https://www.adoptpetshelter.org). After a careful review of several local charities, our Board is excited to announce we have selected Metro Family Services as our 2025 sponsored charity! Metro Family Services has a strong presence in the entire Chicagoland area, with a local chapter representing the needs of DuPage County families. Theater for Charity is a 501 (c) (3) "Freaky Friday: The Musical" is a heartwarming and hilarious stage adaptation of the beloved Disney story. The musical follows teenager Ellie Blake and her mother, Katherine, a perfectionist wedding planner, who magically swap bodies after a heated argument sparked by a mysterious hourglass. Forced to live each other’s lives for a day, they gain a deeper understanding of each other’s struggles, hopes, and fears. As chaos unfolds—with high school drama, wedding mishaps, and a lot of laughs, they must find a way to switch back before time runs out. The show features a lively, contemporary score by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (known for Next to Normal) and blends comedy with touching moments about family, empathy, and self-acceptance. Dates and Location: • Auditions: July 21, 22 • Call back: July 24 if needed • Time: 6PM – 10PM (sign ups offered; walk ins accepted) • Location: Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2600 West 75th Street, Woodridge, IL Performance Dates: Weekends of September 19th and 26th - Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm and Sundays at 2pm AT The Matrix Club Naperville There can be no conflicts during tech rehearsals or Performance weekends from September 15th – 29th Tickets will go on sale August 1, 2025 Audition Sign-Up: • Online sign-up Begins: June 23 • Time Slots: 60-minute slots between 6PM – 10PM • Please note – anyone under 18, must have an adult present to sign off on audition forms Important Audition Information • Cast Size: (ages 14 – to adult) and 5 children (ages 6-10yrs) • Seeking: Seeking a diverse, energetic cast of singers and dancers/strong movers Audition will include: Actors will be scheduled for 1 hour in groups of 10, then divided in two – 5 will go dance/5 will read/sing and then switch. • A Vocal selection: Prepare a pop vocal or upbeat song - 32 bars each. You are welcome to sing a song from the show. • An accompanist will be provided • Dance Sequence: Please come prepared knowing the dance audition combination – video to go on website June 23, 2025 • Acting The Director will have sides available for cold readings • Preparation: • Complete and email the Audition Packet, Headshot & Resume, and all known Conflicts (click link) • Rehearsals: Sundays 3PM – 6PM and Monday – Wednesday from 6PM – 10PM. No conflicts or late arrivals allowed during Tech Week from September 15 – 19 or performances Sept 19-21 and 26- 28 Character Breakdowns (Some parts may be doubled) Katherine Blake A meticulous and overworked single mother in her 40s who runs her own catering business. She's determined to have the perfect wedding while managing her family and career. Through the body swap, she gains insight into her daughter's challenges. Vocal: Soprano. Presents – female; Adult Ellie Blake Katherine's 16-year-old daughter. Smart, funny, and a bit disorganized, Ellie feels overshadowed by her mother's expectations. The body swap forces her to navigate adult responsibilities, leading to personal growth. Presents - Female; Teen/College/Adult. Fletcher Blake Ellie's younger brother, a quirky and imaginative preteen who communicates through puppets. He often annoys Ellie but deeply cares for his family. Presents – Male, Youth. Mike Riley Katherine's fiancé. Supportive and kind-hearted, he's eager to become a part of the family despite Ellie's initial resistance. Presents - Male, Adult. Adam (Listmaker) A charming and adventurous high school student who leads the school's annual scavenger hunt. He becomes Ellie's love interest and plays a pivotal role in the story's resolution. Presents – Male; Teen/College/Adult. Savannah The school's queen bee and Ellie's rival. Competitive and manipulative, she poses challenges during the scavenger hunt. Presents – Female; Teen/College/Adult Gretchen and Hannah Ellie's loyal best friends who support her through the ups and downs of teenage life and the chaos of the body swap. Presents – Female; T
