Sounds and Notes Foundation proudly presents the 8th Annual Chopin IN the City Festival from February 22nd through the 25th. The Festival will showcase a diverse range of multicultural performances by renowned musicians, vocalists, and artists, including a special event commemorating Chopin's Birthday on March 1st.
Fryderyk Chopin, born in Poland in 1810, gifted the world with his masterful compositions. This festival serves as a testament to his enduring genius, with world-class artists offering their interpretations across classical, jazz, and world music genres.
"The celebration of Chopin's birthday is not just a commemoration but a commitment to ensure his music resonates with future generations," remarked Grazyna Auguscik, an international jazz recording artist and founder of the Chopin IN the City Festival.
This year's lineup boasts an eclectic mix of performances, including talented young pianists, a soulful jazz band, an award-winning pianist from Warsaw, a folkloric singer from the Republic of Moldova, a creative woodwind and sound artist, and a unique musical project blending poetry and music with some of Chicago's finest improvisational musicians. The festival will also feature a beloved tradition—the family art fair —where young artists will create art inspired by live music. The festivities will culminate in a special performance celebrating Chopin's birthday on March 1st.
Concerts and performances will take place at various venues across the Chicago area, including the Paderewski Academy of Music PaSO, Forest View Educational Center, Green Mill Jazz Club, Copernicus Center, and ProMusica Audio. The festival's opening night will kick off at the Polish Consulate on February 22nd, 2024.
Sounds and Notes Foundation, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization, is dedicated to creating opportunities that inspire and connect diverse national and international artists through collaborative concerts, festivals, workshops, and educational programs.
