Come to Oak Park River Forest Museum to hear John Elliott, a retired naturalist for the Cook County Forest Preserve, talk about “Reading the Landscape.” Elliott, a longtime Oak Park resident, volunteers regularly with The Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest. Elliot’s talk will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the museum, 129 Lake St.
Ecology, history and economics are based in land. We use maps, written and oral accounts, observation of our built environment and more to learn where we come from and help guide our future. Beneath all is the land, from bedrock to surface, with its own history of both natural and anthropomorphic change. We'll look at some examples from our communities and beyond that may help us better understand where we are. For information, visit oprfmuseum.org. Regular museum rates apply.
