BUILD is a nationally respected gang intervention, violence prevention, and youth development organization working on Chicago’s West Side. Since 1969, BUILD has saved lives, built peace, and empowered young people in Chicago’s most challenged neighborhoods. From gang detachment to school support, mental health care to career coaching, art and music to sports and fitness. These services are all free and reach over 6,500 youth and families each year.
Our speaker is Bradly Johnson, MS, Interim Chief Executive Officer of BUILD. He has over 25 years of experience in community organizing, coalition building, youth engagement, and non-profit management, with most of that time spent in the Austin community, where he grew up. Bradly holds a B.A. in Non-profit Leadership and Youth Program Development and Design, and Master of Science in Public Service Management, from DePaul University. Bradly serves on the Board of Directors of Austin Coming Together and is the Founder and Co-Chair of the Austin Community “Changing the Narrative” Collaboration.
