Home Avenue Bridge Open House

The Village of Oak Park invites residents to attend an upcoming open house public information meeting to learn more about the bridge replacement alternatives being studied for Home Avenue Bridge and provide feedback on the future of this important connection. The open house will be held on Wed., July 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the Oak Park Conservatory (615 Garfield St., Oak Park, IL 60304). This bridge provides an important connection over I-290, the CTA Blue Line, and CSX railroad tracks. The project team is studying bridge alternatives to address the existing condition of the bridge and evaluate ways to improve accessibility, safety, connectivity, and the overall user experience. During the open house, attendees will be able to review project information, learn about the purpose and need of the project, view bridge alternative designs and talk with project team members. Community members will also have the opportunity to share input on topics such as walking and biking access, accessibility, bridge approaches and ramps and overall comfort and safety. Public input will help the project team better understand how the bridge is used today and what improvements are most important to the community as the planning process continues. The meeting will be conducted in an open-house format. Attendees can stop by anytime between 6-8 p.m., as a formal presentation is not planned. Community members who are unable to attend the open house will be able to view meeting materials and submit comments through the project website at engageoakpark.com/homeavebridge.
