Weaving together ecology, history, futurity, and collective awe in a site-specific spectacle performance at Winnemac Park and Marian Byrnes Park, Wender Collective's REMNANTS is an encounter with Chicago's ancient ecosystems. Audiences follow "spirits of the place" in the form of giant puppets representing the remnant prairies, wetlands, savannas, and woodlands that once covered our region, with naturalists interpreting local ecology and free native plants given out at each event. Converging on a central performance at dusk, REMNANTS kindles opportunities for renewal and rewilding in the face of grief and loss.
Marian Byrnes Park, August 28 & 29, 6:00pm-8:00pm.
Free, bring a chair or blanket.
