AI, Smart Lights, and More: Workshop with Giau Truong


In this workshop, Giau will guide you through using AI prompts to control smart bulbs and troubleshoot tech issues effectively. Discover how intuitive AI tools can simplify technology and open up new possibilities for innovation and creativity. Tickets are available on a sliding scale from $16-$42. Friday, June 7th, from 6:00-9:00pm Saturday, June 8th, from 11:00am-2:00pm Sunday, June 9th, from 11:00am-2:00pm You will learn: - Introduction to AI Prompting: Start with the basics of AI prompts and how they can automate and simplify complex tasks without prior programming knowledge. - Smart Bulb Basics: Learn how to write simple scripts and codes to operate smart lighting systems, enhancing the ambiance and functionality of any space. - Creative Problem Solving: Explore how AI can be a user-friendly tool for diagnosing and resolving technical issues, making tech maintenance straightforward and accessible. - Collaborative Exploration: Engage in group discussions and idea-sharing sessions that emphasize learning from each other in an open, supportive environment. - Hands-On Practice: Participate in practical activities designed for beginners, ensuring you can apply what you learn immediately, regardless of your technical background. Who should attend? This workshop is perfect for those new to the tech world, including home DIY enthusiasts, creative professionals, and anyone interested in using modern tools to enhance their environment and solve common tech problems without needing extensive technical training. Outcome Participants will leave this workshop with a fundamental understanding of how to use AI for controlling smart devices, seeds to explore innovative ways to use AI for creating and troubleshooting. What to bring? If you have a laptop, bring it. If not we will have three onsite for people to use. About the Instructor Giau Minh Truong (he/him) is Links Hall's Production Manager and Associate Curator. He was born in Vietnam and lived in a refugee camp with his family for two years in Indonesia before arriving in the USA in 1982. Giau oversees Links Hall’s production and technical needs for artists and performances, maintains Studio A performance space, and does curatorial work focusing on developing use of tech in performance.
