Opening Reception for Interval: Portraits Thus Far

Eve Beatrice Weiner has devoted years to documentation of his own and others participation in leathersex. Often leading with a prompt to talk about and visualize what makes one feel most embodied in leather community and sexual identity, his portrait sessions have been investigations of the myriad of ways this life is integrated into people’s beings. An interval, defined as a break in continuity, is temporary and is an inherent implication of further work. With this lull, and this presentation of work, the artist publicly avows to continue creating with the principled dedication he began with. Through a quasi-chronological depiction of their working progression of both visual art and writing, he analyzes influences in earlier work and discusses what is crucial to bridge the gap of said continuity. “Interval” is as much a display of passion as it is an ongoing commitment to meaningful creation. BIO: Eve Beatrice Weiner (he/they) is a transsexual leatherdyke photographer and writer currently based in Brooklyn, NY. He is staunchly committed to art as both a creative continuation of sadomasochistic leather history/practice and a utility of preservation. They have worked with Kink Out to curate and platform fellow artists in the greater discipline, and he continues to serve his local contemporary scene through documentation and unwavering commitment to the sanctity and praxis of leather. With some of their work already collected into the Chicago LA&M, they are thrilled to be able to present a cohesive exhibition for public viewing.
