Chicago has always had its share of spectacular commercial works; Magikist, Z Frank and Holiday Inn’s signs were urban landmarks. The popularity of neon was such that a robust community of crafts people formed to create and maintain these pieces. More recently, spearheaded by Jacob Fishman and Gregory Mowery, professor at the School of the Art Institute, the artistic scene has flourished. The artists presented here include newcomers like Carolina Pereira de Almeida and Zoelle Nagib and of course the inimitable Jacob Fishman. This exhibition on Neon is the gallery's 6th starting with On Neon and including the Neon and Light Museum. LIS...
