FOX VALLEY CELEBRATES HISPANIC HERITAGE WITH A MONTH-LONG ALEBRIJES EXHIBIT

Fox Valley, a three-story shopping center serving generations of Aurora/Naperville-area visitors (www.ShopFoxValleyMall.com), invites the community to enjoy a month-long Hispanic Heritage art exhibit showcasing brightly colored mythical Mexican creatures, also known as alebrijes, now through October 28th in the Round 1 Court (on Level 1). These colorfully painted life-size sculptures depict unique creatures inspired by animals commonly found on the land or in the sea with special added features that make them one-of-a-kind. The artist, Gloria Contreras, is well known in Chicago for her colorful alebrijes and catrinas; her work has also been featured in the Mexican Independence Day celebration in Cicero, Arts in the Dark Parade in Chicago, and Day of the Dead Festival in both Blue Island and in Homewood as well as exhibited at the Tamale Hut Gallery, Mexican Cultural Center, Naperville 95th Street Library, Naperville Riverwalk Fine Art Fair, Wheaton Festival of Culture and Chicago city hall. This event is free and open to the public; no pre-registration is required.
