On Saturday, May 7, 2023, the Michael Teolis Singers will present GONE TOO SOON, a program of choral works by composers whose creative careers were cut short, having died at a relatively young age. Eighteen composers will be represented, spanning five centuries, and six languages. Joining MTS as guest artist will be the marvelous soprano, Josefien Stoppelenburg. Ms. Stoppelenburg will be the featured soloist in Franz Schubert’s glorious composition, “Miriam’s Song of Triumph.”
Dutch soprano Josefien Stoppelenburg is best known for her dazzling vocal agility and passionate and insightful interpretations. Stoppelenburg has performed all over the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America as a Baroque Music and Oratorio specialist, and as a concert singer. The Chicago Tribune said, “Stoppelenburg commands an agile, rhythmically exact soprano” with “floating, full-toned expression.” Her CD, ‘Modern Muses,’ contemporary treasures for soprano and cello, won a Bronze Medal in the 2022 Global Music Awards.
Tickets are available online at MTSingers.org: Adults $22 and seniors/students $17 with credit card only. Tickets are available at the door: Adults $25 and senior/students $20. Seating is general admission. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the concert. All state mandated COVID protocols will be followed.
