Music with a Mission
MwaM (MwaM) is pleased to present award-winning soprano Olivia Doig Skaff performing "Songs Motherhood Taught Me", with Valerie Lorimer on piano. The performance will feature a variety of musical styles and genres including music from composers ranging from Schumann and Bellini to Sondheim and Rogers and Hart, as well as pieces by Valerie.
In describing the performance and theme Olivia said, “While I love performing in larger concerts and productions, I think recitals are often a more intimate form of music in which the singer and pianist may choose to share more about their own personal stories. I became a mother four years ago and am looking forward to sharing some of the ways motherhood has changed me through song.”
MwaM’s founder, Christopher Lorimer, describes Doig Skaff as a naturally engaging and personable performer who audiences are sure to enjoy.
MwaM offers free performances to make the musical arts more accessible to more people, and a goodwill offering at every concert benefits a community not-for-profit organization.
A goodwill offering from this free performance will benefit MU5IC4GOOD, a nonprofit founded by student musicians from Naperville Central High School. MU5IC4GOOD seeks to increase awareness about the rising rates of autism and provide access to music therapy to kids with autism because it can enhance communication, support emotional development, and foster deep connections.
