Join us for a dynamic session exploring the untold story of Chicago’s Westside party scene — from iconic venues like The Factory and DaVinci Manor to the rise of media hubs like Dance Mania Records and WalaCamTV. We’ll also spotlight the Fifth City Community Center’s role as a vital gathering place for vogue balls and footwork battles in the ’90s and early 2000s.
This program is part of the Chicago Black Social Culture Map (CBSCM)—a living archive of more than 350 cultural venues that documents Black joy, creativity, resistance, and community across Chicagoland. The CBSCM features digitally recorded oral histories, digitized cassette audio, party flyers, photographs, pluggers, and fashion ephemera tied to Chicago’s Black social and music culture.
