This year’s theme “Neurodiverse Brains: Understanding Differences, Empowering Potential” will explore the evolving definitions and perspectives on neurodiversity, including the latest research, practical strategies, and personal stories to inspire a more inclusive and empathetic approach to neurodiversity.
The conference will feature a panel of local presenters.
Samantha Kolkey, MSW, LCSW will open the day by defining neurodiversity terminology, history and social and medical perspectives. She is a dedicated advocate for individuals with disabilities, with extensive experience in program development, nonprofit leadership and community collaboration.
Jennifer Gerlach, MSW, LCSW will share her lived experience and strategies for fostering acceptance and well-being in neurodiverse individuals. She is a psychotherapist, author and speaker specializing in the intersection of neurodiversity and mental health.
Debra Vines is the founder and CEO of The Answer Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to supporting families affected by autism and development disorders. She will share her powerful story of lived experience and perseverance.
Dr. Natalie LaDuke is a licensed clinical psychologist and nationally certified school psychologist at The Chicago School. She will serve as moderator and facilitate the Q&A portion of the program.
This event is designed for anyone seeking to understand and support neurodivergent individuals, from teachers and employers to healthcare providers and families.
