“In today’s world, there are no musical boundaries,” says Max ZT of ‘House of Waters,’ a trio that makes those words come alive as they incorporate elements of West African, jazz, psychedelic, indie rock, classical, and world music into their astonishingly unique sound. For sixteen years, Max ZT (hammered dulcimer) and Moto Fukushima (six-string electric bass) have carefully crafted a combined voice. Their rare instrumentation allows the two prolific composers to create a distinct sound and a compelling and captivating style. Joined by an array of esteemed drummers and percussionists, their latest Grammy-nominated, new GroundUP Music release, On Becoming, features luminaries Antonio Sanchez, Mike Stern, and Priya Dardhani. For this special Chicago performance, they will be accompanied by the exceptional drummer, Juan Chiavassa, whose versatile style adds an electrifying dimension to their sound. Having shared stages with icons such as Pandit Ravi Shankar and Victor Wooten, and touring alongside jazz powerhouse Snarky Puppy, House of Waters continues to captivate audiences globally with their innovative fusion of sounds. The musicians have previously played in Chicago, but this concert on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 8:30 PM at Constellation Chicago will mark the band's first Chicago show since their Grammy Award nomination.
