Milou Moon & Friends
Milou Moon – the dream-psych project of French-American artist Emily McGill, born in Chicago and based in Naarm/Melbourne – is bringing their electric live show back to Chicago this summer. Blending lush psych-rock textures with ethereality, Milou Moon’s songwriting drifts between English and French to explore a bicultural inner world; a terrain of belonging and displacement, and the beauty of holding contradictions in harmony.
McGill came of age in Chicago’s DIY scene and continues to carry this ethos into her work in Australia, weaving it together with modern psych influences like Crumb and Melody’s Echo Chamber to form a sound that is floaty, driving, immersive, and distinctly her own. Emily is currently co-producing Milou Moon’s debut full-length album with Leigh Fisher (DOPE LEMON, Angus & Julia Stone) with creative contributions from Simon Mavin (Hiatus Kaiyote) and Adam Halliwell (Mildlife).
Milou Moon are joined by Oyeme, an experimental folk band from Chicago, Illinois, blending energetic folk with experimental electronic textures. Their EP "Dead End Neighborhood" showcases their unique sound, combining elements of midwestern folktronica with dynamic road trip anthems. Oyeme will be performing an intimate, stripped back set for this show.
