Many Hands Holding the Moon is a movement class for performers and the performance-curious, with ensemble stage puppetry as its main focus. Participants will explore how a group moves as one body apart, how a group puppeteers one body together, and how a group’s movement can turn an empty stage into another world.
In Many Hands we will cover physical thought as an ensemble, puppet devising, and the tool of focus on stage. Time will be dedicated to filling participants’ mental toolboxes with all kinds of puppet magic tricks, which translate very well to film and other live performance media. Main activities will be movement games, ensemble exercises, and making a whole bunch of puppet etudes. Participants will leave this class with a strong understanding of how to make puppet shows in a group, and leverage the problem-solving creative power of working in a team. Registration includes six sessions:

Sun, May 25, 2:00-4:00 PM
