Ikechukwu Ufomadu - the “gentleman-scholar of alt-comedy” (New York Magazine) - invites you to a rigorously nonsensical evening of comic absurdity. With a unique mix of words, songs, two books, one cup of tea, a slide show and more, “Amusements” promises to defy genre while operating safely within the bounds of international law.
About the Artist:
Ikechukwu Ufomadu is an Emmy-nominated and Drama Desk Award-winning actor, writer and comedian, named a “Comedian You Should Know” by New York Magazine and a “Comic to Look Out For” by Time Out New York.
His solo show "Amusements" premiered off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons after being workshopped at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to sell-out audiences and strong reviews. He co-wrote and stars in the indie feature Inspector Ike (BRIC/Factory 25), praised in the New York Times as an “often-inspired goof” and in Paste Magazine as a “cult classic in the making”. He also co-wrote and stars in Words with Ike (FX) which earned an Emmy nomination for Best Actor in a Short Form Series.
He's written for Ziwe (Showtime) and Tooning Out The News (Paramount Plus). On screen, he can be seen in the recent Sundance hit Your Monster, as well as Judas and the Black Messiah (Warner Bros), Los Espookys (HBO), Three Busy Debras, Joe Pera Talks With You (Adult Swim) and more. As a comedian, he's performed at The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, South by Southwest, New York's Public Theater, Joe’s Pub, the Netflix is a Joke Festival and more.
