Chicago-based performers Stephen Winchell and Zack Mast embody the ultimate small-screen duo, Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, as they tear apart the films of 1987 — and each other. In a production that straddles the line between reenactment and satire, director Katlin Schneider stages an adaptation of one of the pair’s most heated episodes, a tense half-hour that spurs the critics to brandish their grandest opinions and cross thumbs with legendary intensity. A cast also recreates the movie clips within the episode, adding to the theatrics of this love letter to the famous film critics.
