Filmspotting Fest
Filmspotting Fest returns to Chicago on June 27–28, bringing together film lovers, critics, filmmakers, and audiences for a weekend of repertory cinema, live conversations, and community. Presented by the acclaimed Filmspotting podcast and WBEZ Chicago radio show, the festival celebrates films that continue to inspire discussion long after the credits roll.
This year's festival explores the theme of time through four memorable films spanning more than five decades. Each screening is followed by a live conversation with special guests, offering audiences the opportunity to hear directly from filmmakers and leading film critics.
Saturday's programming at the Athenaeum Center for Thought & Culture includes Agnès Varda's Cléo from 5 to 7 with author Carrie Rickey, the 10th anniversary screening of Krisha with writer-director Trey Edward Shults, and the 25th anniversary screening of Wet Hot American Summer featuring actress Marguerite Moreau and critic Scott Tobias. The festival concludes Sunday at the Music Box Theatre with a 35mm presentation of Wes Anderson's The Royal Tenenbaums, followed by a discussion with Chicago Tribune film critic Michael Phillips.
In addition to screenings, attendees can enjoy live Q&As, opportunities to meet fellow film enthusiasts, and the unique communal experience that has made Filmspotting one of the most respected voices in film criticism for more than 20 years.
