Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for History, acclaimed historian Doris Kearns Goodwin has chronicled American presidential history with her bestselling biographies. Goodwin returns to Chicago Humanities with her latest book, An Unfinished Love Story: A Personal History of the 1960s. In it, Goodwin skillfully intertwines biography, memoir and history by sharing the emotional journey she took with her husband during the final years of his life. As a married couple, they discussed, argued and assessed the political landscapes of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Robert Kennedy, Eugene McCarthy, and especially Lyndon Johnson, who greatly impacted both their lives. Join Doris and Chicago Humanities for an evening aimed at inspiring a younger generation to continue this unfinished love story with America.
