" ENOUGH! WE ARE ENOUGH. WE HAD ENOUGH. BLACK ENOUGH."
THIS YEAR'S THEME
This year’s theme, “Enough! We are Enough. We had Enough. Black Enough,” serves as a rallying cry for the Black community, urging us to confront systemic injustices and demand change. Under this powerful banner, we embrace the multifaceted dimensions of resilience, self-determination, and collective empowerment.
THE HOUSE PARTY
We couldn’t miss the opportunity to throw a House Party in The Chi. Meet us for bumping music in the city that created House Music, that’s right Chicago. Think bomb food, the electric slide, and a funky good old time with your people at the National Black Worker Center. We are calling it a House Party because when you’re with your people you’re Home.
Date: August 2nd
Location: Chicago Teacher’s Union
Time: 6pm-10pm
The headlines paint a grim picture—racial bias, unemployment, a system stacked against Black workers. It’s a story we’ve seen for far too long, a story where talent and hard work hit a dead end. But it is a story we have the power to rewrite.
At the National Black Worker Center (NBWC), we are driven by the belief that Black workers hold the key to their own success. However, they need a solid foundation built on legal protections, fair wages, and a collective voice. Our mission is rooted in empowering Black workers themselves. We provide individuals with the necessary tools to navigate the often-unequal workplace. Through legal aid resources, we fight discrimination. With leadership skills training, we empower workers to advocate for fair wages and opportunities. We are not merely reacting to a broken system; we are actively building a new one—a future where Black workers have the power to thrive, and economic justice becomes a tangible reality.
This transformation will not happen overnight, but it starts with a powerful force: “WE.” We, the collective of Black workers, businesses committed to change, and allies who believe in a more equitable future, can make a lasting impact.
The Working While Black Expo (WWB Expo) serves as a catalyst for this transformation. It is a space where conversations are sparked, experiences shared, and strategies are developed to dismantle the barriers that have held Black workers back for far too long. This expo is more than just an event; it marks a turning point—a moment where we collectively declare that enough is enough, and change must happen.
The fight for economic and racial justice is a long and arduous one, but the rewards are indisputable.
