This September 27, Loyola University Chicago will host Una Noche de Encanto/ A Night of Encanto, an award-winning musical program that seamlessly merges classical opera arias, piano, mariachi, and bolero traditions in a breathtaking celebration of Latine Heritage Month.
This event will feature the Loyola Symphony Orchestra, UniversityChorale, University Singers, and special guest artists EncantoArts. Opening the show will be participants from surrounding Mariachi programs.
Led by Encanto Arts Founder and Executive Director José Iñiguez, the program will also feature an exceptional roster of guest artists: principal conductor Maestro Miguel Ángel Alatorre Álvarez, pianist Andrew Pang, soprano Jacqueline Medina Itzel Green, and Justin Raffa, Director of the Mid-Columbia Master Singers, who will lead the choir for this special performance.
Featuring the poignant North American Debut of David Penadés-Fasanar's Lágrimas de Fang (Tears of Mud). This intermezzo for symphony orchestra reflects the pain, sorrow, and desolation left behind by the devastating DANA (cold drop) event in Valencia, Spain in October 2024. Penadés-Fasanar's composition serves as a tribute to the victims, offering a unique opportunity to connect with this piece.
David Penadés-Fasanar, a Valencian talent with an international reach, is an award-winning composer and conductor known for his aesthetic depth and commitment to his cultural roots. His works have been performed in countries like Canada, Colombia, Germany. He has received accolades such as the Euterpe de la Música and the Golden Batute.
