WFAE and the League of Women Voters of Charlotte-Mecklenburg will host a Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board of Education Candidate Forum on October 27, 2025 from 7:00–8:30 PM at the WFAE Center for Civics and Community Engagement (301 East 7th Street, Charlotte). The forum is free and open to the public — registration required. It will also be livestreamed on WFAE.
Six of nine seats on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education will be on the ballot this fall, representing Districts 1 through 6. These races will determine who helps shape the future of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for the next four years.
The Board of Education oversees everything from hiring the superintendent to approving the school district’s $2 billion budget, setting policy on curriculum and safety, and developing the long-term strategic vision for CMS. Its decisions directly affect every student, teacher, and family in Mecklenburg County.
Join WFAE and the League of Women Voters of Charlotte Mecklenburg for an in-depth Candidate Forum, moderated by WFAE Education Reporter James Farrell. Candidates will share their priorities and answer questions about how they plan to ensure educational excellence, equity, and accountability across the district.
This is your opportunity to hear directly from the individuals who will guide the direction of our public schools. An informed vote is a powerful vote — make sure yours counts.
