Historic Cooking Demonstration
We will explore how they were grown, possible varieties and growing tips for corn and cucumbers. Our receipts will include roasted corn, parched corn, popcorn, receipts using corn meal, forced cucumbers, ragooed cucumbers, and of course it wouldn't be summer without a batch of pickled cucumbers! You can even try your hand are grinding corn! We hope to see you in the Polk Kitchen as we share the receipts and smells of the 18th century life during James K. Polk's time.
