Jazz Legacy w/Justin Varnes: Sarah Vaughan, feat Maria Howell
Justin Varnes Jazz Legacy Project series performs the songs and tells the stories of pivotal jazz artists, adding insight into what to listen for, relationships with American cultural shifts and connections to history that open up a new world to the music.
The Divine One, as she was known, Vaughan used her bebop chops to add sophistication and style to such big hits as “Misty,” “Body & Soul,” and “Whatever Lola Wants.” Her unique style is expertly brought to life by Charlotte’s own divine jazz vocalist: Maria Howell.
