Assault on Our Freedoms
Pro-democracy groups throughout the state are coming together to launch the Democracy at Risk Series, a monthly series focused on protecting our freedoms.
On January 13, the first 2024 session in the Democracy at Risk Series will focus on Assault on Our Freedoms. The program will be 2-4pm EST, and on-site activities are available 1:15 - 4:30pm. Curriculum and books are being restricted in Florida schools. Educators - who understand how children learn AND who spend time with their students - are being prohibited from using their professional judgment. Hear from leaders who are on the ground, working to protect public schools, and fight for education professionals. Karen Svoboda, president of the national organization Defense of Democracy, and representatives of pro-public education The Purple Group will share their experiences, insights and plans for the future.
Get an update on local and statewide freedoms that have been curtailed or marginalized in the last couple years. Learn of proposed new legislative actions that could damage or destroy more freedoms.
