Purple Tea

A panel of renowned breast health experts, researchers and physicians will headline the third annual Purple Tea, a free breast health symposium set for Thursday, Feb. 13 that explores recent developments in the prevention, screening and treatment of breast cancer. The free event features discussions and presentations from a variety of experts in their respective disciplines. Event Chair Gerri Ware will introduce this year’s honorary chair and keynote speaker, Dr. Nadine “Deanie” Singh, founder and CEO of Premier Mobile Health Services. A teen mother and high school dropout, Singh completed a GED and has since earned an Associate of Arts degree from Broward College, Associate of Science degree in nursing from Florida SouthWestern State College, Bachelor of Science degree in registered nursing from Florida SouthWestern State College, Master of Science degree in nursing practice from South University and Doctor of Nursing degree from South University. A nurse, hospitalist and family nurse practitioner, Singh purchased a mobile medical unit on eBay in 2018 and has since turned her nonprofit into a thriving organization that has served more than 12,000 medically vulnerable patients in Southwest Florida. Purple Tea speakers and presenters include: Dr. Janine Harewood, a medical oncologist with Lee Health. Dr. Alan Brown, a radiation oncologist with Advocate Radiation Oncology. Dr. Natalia Spinelli, a breast surgical oncologist with Precision Healthcare Specialists. Dr. Faithlore Gardner, a medical oncologist and hematologist with Florida Cancer Specialists. Nationally, about one in eight women (13%) will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. This year, it’s estimated that doctors will diagnose about 300,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer in the U.S., representing nearly 30% of all cancers among women. Attendees at Purple Tea are encouraged to wear purple in a show of unity and solidarity. Purple Tea will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13 at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, 1380 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers. Tickets are complimentary and include lunch. Registration is available at AdvocateRO.com/PurpleTeaParty or by calling Sherri Kubesh at 239-839-6015.
