Babcock Ranch, America’s first solar-powered town, is celebrating National Trails Day on June 7, with a Nature Walk & Talk hike led by the town’s Environmental Conservation Manager & Wildlife Biologist, Christina Kontos. The Southwest Florida community is invited to join for an approximately two-mile walk as she educates attendees on the beautiful native wildlife that call Babcock Ranch home. Participants will learn about how to coexist with neighboring wildlife, habitat connectivity, and the importance of various land management activities that are vital for the health of Florida’s ecosystem.
Those interested are welcome to meet Christina at the Dr. Bill Hammond Trail Head entrance within the William & Mary Ann Smith Sports Complex (17100 Palmetto Pass Lane, Babcock Ranch, FL 33982). Parking is available at the Sports Complex. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. Please be sure to bring a hat, sunglasses, water, and sunscreen!
