In this class, you will explore relief printmaking by using woodblocks and other materials to create monochromatic prints. We will focus on your relationships with the wood and tools as printmakers. No previous printmaking experience is required, and all skill levels are welcome.
Complete and understand relief printmaking basic processes. Projects will be one or two layers of woodblock print on Kozo paper, one design per student, and around 10 final prints per person, with woodblock print sizes around 3’’ x 4.5’’. The final print could be used as an individual art piece, postcard, bookplate, etc.
All materials included.
*This is a two class workshop. Participants must attend both class dates: Saturdays, October 19th and 26th.*
It is helpful, but not necessary, to come to class with a simple idea or sketch of what you’d like to carve into your block.
