On November of 2022 our great friend, Shawn Temple, suffered from a immobilizing stroke and entered the hospital. It was there he spent the next month and half in acute care and intensive physical therapy. The stroke effected the entire right side of his body; leaving him to relearn how to speak, use his right arm and walk. Thanks to the miracle workers at the hospital and Shawn's determination, he is able to walk (assisted) and talk again but only for short periods of time. The rehabilitation program from this stroke is not just muscular, it also involves retraining his brain and getting his neurons to fire back up again. A process that Shawn will have to incorporate in his new daily routine from here on out.
In efforts to get Shawn up and functioning as close to normal as possible, he was fitted for orthotic foot brace costing upwards of $5,000 out of pocket. This is just the tip of the iceberg in medical expenses that Shawn will have endure in his recovery process.
We are asking his friends and family to rally around him as we hold this benefit to 'Rebuild our Temple'. Come in celebration that Shawn is on the road to recovery as we raffle off sports memorabilia, jam to live music and share great food and drinks at the Transit Music Lounge, Sunday March 26th from 3pm-7pm. Proceeds from this benefit will go directly to assist Shawn in his recovery journey.
