Buffalo Silver Band Goes to the Movies!/David Colkitt Memorial Scholarship Competition Performance
Never doubt the power of music. Good cinematographers have long understood the importance of music in movies. It not only underscores the action, but often defines the emotions filmmakers are trying to evoke. Would Indiana Jones be as heroic without the magnificent John Williams score behind him? The cinema has given us some of the most memorable melodies of the past century and we proudly present just a handful in this program. From Elmer Bernstein “Great Escape” to Monty Norman’s “James Bond” with some Hans Zimmer Pirate music and Howard Shore “Lord of the Rings”, the program is chock full of movie blockbusters! And yes, John Williams’ music is included. In addition, the BSB is proud to feature the winner of our seventh annual David Colkitt Memorial Youth Scholarship performance.
