We begin in the 1920's Jazz Age, when George Gershwin brought Maurice Ravel on a tour of the jazz clubs of Harlem. Ravel was so thrilled with this new American art form that he incorporated jazz into his compositions after returning to Paris. Herbie Hancock has brought the inspiration of both of these musicians into his music throughout the many decades of his career, from the 1960's to the present. Come and hear the cross-pollination among popular, classical, and jazz in Ravel's Valses, Herbie Hancock's Dolphin Dance, and Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue.
