Need a new lawn mower? That's up for grabs too! Here is the story behind this event from Lou's wife: Hello. My name is Paula D'Amico, Lou's wife and life partner for 30 years. When we exchanged vows in July of 1994 our hearts skipped a beat. We were ready to spend the rest of our lives together. We were ready to have children. We were ready to face any hurdle. Most of all we were ready to grow old together. Over three decades we faced financial challenges, job changes, and the loss of family and friends. We also celebrated life. A new home. The adoption of loving dogs. And, the beginning of life with the birth of our son and all the wonderful moments that followed. His first steps. His first day of school, friends, jobs, graduations, sports, girlfriend, and a new car. Big Lou was a 6-foot man with a heart of gold. He was quiet, kind, loving, and comforting. His hugs took the worries of the day away and filled you with love and the feeling that "Everything will be OK". Lou worked hard for his family and his company. He loved his FAMILY and his FRAMILY deeply. My husband also loved music. If you asked him about any artist, any genre, he had an answer for you. Lou also loved to play the drums and he loved his dogs. Life was good until this Fall. A simple stomachache turned into a horrible and aggressive battle for life. A battle that several doctors say they have never seen. Pancreatic and liver cancer entered our home and for less than 3 months Lou and our family fought like hell: doctors, nurses, tests, hospitalization, chemo, hospice, and finally on a quiet and peaceful winter evening he left the struggle behind to join his loved ones in heaven. I believe we did everything we could for Lou to keep him comfortable and exactly where he wanted to be, home. How dare this disease barge into our lives! The loss is nothing less than gut-wrenching. It has left a hole in our hearts and now we are struggling to pay all the medical expenses on top of the day-to-day bills. Any money raised will be used to pay off all medical bills and make some repairs to our home. I leave you this...the night we were told that treatment was no longer an option at the hospital and Hospice should step in, my son asked, "Where do we go after Hospice? Where do we live?" I said, "We stay here sweetheart. We stay here at home." I humbly ask that you help me keep that promise. Help us keep Big Lou's legacy alive.
