In this orientation & safety class, you'll learn the basics of laser engraving and cutting using the Glowforge! We'll cover what types of designs work best, where to find design files online, and how to import them into the Glowforge software — then put your skills to the test with a fun hands-on project. By the end of class, you'll have a strong understanding of how to safely use the Glowforge and leave with something you made yourself to take home. Laptops provided!
What You Will Learn:
How the Glowforge laser engraver and cutter works
What types of designs work best for laser engraving and cutting
Where to find design files online
How to import and prepare your design in the Glowforge software
How to safely operate the Glowforge from start to finish
Upon completion, and with a pay-what-you-can donation to The Foundry, you'll be eligible to use our Makerspaces during Open Maker Hours (Mondays 6–9pm & Saturdays 9am–1pm) to continue building your skills and work on personal projects with support from our trained supervisors.

Notice: This class needs to meet the minimum enrollment in order to run. Participants will be notified of cancellation the Monday prior to the class if needed. In case of cancellation, participants can choose another scheduled date if available or request a refund.
