Celebrate Dance! Family-Friendly Dance Concert
SMAPA's Performance Workshop Ensemble will perform their annual dance concert on June 2, 2024 from 3- 4:30 p.m. at the JCC MetroWest at 760 Northfield Ave. West Orange, NJ 07052.
Performance Workshop Ensemble is a scholarship program for ages 12-18 designed to give aspiring dancers the opportunity and resources to gain pre-professional training and performance experience. They will be performing original works by Carolyn Dorfman, Christopher Huggins, and others, as well as Sharron Miller's "Praise," a jubilant, perennial favorite that never fails to uplift the soul. At the concert, Ms. Miller will also announce the 2024 recipient of the Joyce Copeland Scholarship, providing a full year of dance training to the most deserving young student of color.
Tickets are $15 for children and senior citizens, $25 for other adults. Your ticket purchase will help cover the cost of the concert, while also helping SMAPA to continue offering scholarships to deserving young dancers and bringing arts education to thousands of N.J. young people, primarily children of color, in Paterson and Newark schools.

Sharron Miller’s Academy for the Performing Arts (SMAPA) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, arts education organization whose mission is to provide comprehensive, inclusive developmental training in dance and related theater arts for children, teens, and adults. We have been a Black woman-led business in Montclair for over 28 years. We take great pride in meeting the needs of our community across age, gender, skill level, and socioeconomic status, providing tuition assistance for deserving young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in the arts.
