150th Freehold Memorial Day Parade

In celebration of the 150th annual Freehold Memorial Day Parade, the Freehold Memorial Day Parade Committee has created a weekend of events to commemorate the historic milestone. Starting the weekend is a night of patriotic and Americana themed music provided by the Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea and conducted by Fr. Alphonse Stevenson. The show will begin at 7pm on Saturday, May 25th at the First Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Freehold. Tickets are on sale now and are $20 each. Please reach out to [email protected] for more information and a list of dates when/where tickets can be purchased. The weekend will continue with a Memorial Service and Grave Decoration on Sunday, May 26th at Maplewood Cemetery in Freehold. Just as the Vredenburgh Rifles did in those early years, there will be a memorial service at the grave of Capt. James Conover and followed by the decoration of Civil War graves within the cemetery - flower posies for these graves will be provided. On Monday, May 27th the Freehold veterans organization will conduct their annual memorial service at Elks Point in downtown Freehold beginning at 8:30am. Also on Monday, May 27th, the 150th Freehold Memorial Day Parade will begin with a flag draped caisson going down the parade route at 9:45am to remind all of the true meaning of Memorial Day. This will be followed by the rest of the parade at 10:00. The Parade leaves from the corner of Brinkerhoff Avenue and Main Street, proceeds down Main Street and takes the left fork down Broadway at Elks Point. It will then turn left at Murray Street and again on Schanck Street before turning right onto Monument Street and ending with a right turn into the Monmouth County Courthouse parking lot. The parade will feature over 70 marching units including veterans groups, floats, bands, youth marching units, schools, cultural units and much more. Additional information and FAQs can be found on our website - www.freeholdmemorialdayparade.com - and the committee can be contacted with any additional questions at [email protected].
