Westchester Parks 2024 Duck Derby

Nearly 1,000 rubber ducks will be released into the Lazy River Pool at Tibbetts Brook Park for the first-ever Westchester Parks Foundation (WPF) Duck Derby. The event will take place on Thursday, August 1st from 5:30-7:30 pm at 355 Midland Avenue in Yonkers. (Rain Date: August 7) Money raised at the event will support the Revitalization of Tibbetts Lake, a multi-year planned effort to sustain the lake and restore it to its original state for recreational use. Duck prices start at $20 for a single duck, $45 for three ducks, and $125 for a flock of ten ducks. The prize for first place is $1,000, with non-cash prizes being awarded for 2nd, 3rd, and last place. Each duck will be marked with a number on the bottom, corresponding to an individual’s purchase. Winners need not be present to win. All adults must purchase at least one duck to enter, kids are free! Food and drink will be available for purchase (alcohol for 21+). This is a family-friendly event, so individuals of all ages are welcome to join in on the fun. There will be a DJ, lawn games, temporary airbrush tattoos, and a bounce house for children. In addition, all kids get free ice cream! The event is made possible through community support from event sponsors including Westchester County Parks, Recreation and Conservation, RXR and Saint Joseph’s Medical Center.
