Centering Prayer during Lent
St. James the Less Episcopal Church will hold a four-week introduction to the practice of Centering Prayer as part of its Lenten Series of activities, Wednesdays, March 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 7 to 8 p.m. All are welcome to learn about and experience this contemplative way of individual prayer as a way to interior spiritual awareness and “resting in God.”
Held in the Parish Hall, 10 Church Lane at Crane Road, the sessions will include background and history as well as 20-30 minutes of silent prayer. An accepted form of individual worship for Christian laypeople and monks for hundreds of years, being in quiet union with God through Centering Prayer is having a resurgence in these busy and often stressful times.
