1 PM: A program in the church with a brief talk recognizing the holiday which celebrates the end of slavery in Texas in June 1865, at the conclusion of the Civil War. This will include a reading of the official emancipation proclamation that was issued in Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865. A feature of the program in the church will be a performance of spirituals by acclaimed bass baritone singer Ronald Campbell, accompanied by Dante Harrell on keyboard.
1:30 PM (approximately) A walking tour of the historic cemetery, led by St. Paul's living historian Michae Grillo, placing wreaths at the graves of two Black veterans of Civil War regiments that were stationed in Texas in June of 1865.
