Sari demonstration/book reading
On Monday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m., author and kindergarten teacher Jyoti Rajan Gopal shares the magic of saris, clothing from South Asia that has remained virtually unchanged for thousands of years. During this all-ages program she will read from her picture book, “My Paati’s Saris,” about a little boy who loves his grandma's saris. After, she will do a sari-wearing demonstration (attendees can volunteer to be draped) and book signing.
“My Paati’s Saris” is a New York Public Library Best Books of 2022, a Bank Street Best Books of 2022, and a School and Library Journal Best Books of 2022. It has been shortlisted for the prestigious Neev Literary Award in India.
