Haunted house fundraiser
The first annual fundraiser haunted house for the Hudson Park Children’s Greenhouse will be held this weekend, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27 and 28, from 6 to 10 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. The earliest time slot is better for younger children as it is still a little light outside.
David Calamari, SHS Class of 2017, ran a home haunt in Scarsdale, “Barry Road Manor,” from 2010-16 at his parent’s house. What began with a few tombstones and a fog machine on the front lawn turned into a cemetery in the front yard and a 1,200-square-foot haunted house in the backyard.
Since graduating from the University of Connecticut where he studied scenic design and technical direction, he has worked professionally in the industry building scenery for Broadway shows and concert tours. He and a friend now own their own company, Tailored to Fear, specializing in scenic design, fabrication and painting for haunted attractions and other themed experiences.
Calamari is creative director for the haunted house. David O’Neil, technology teacher in the Eastchester School District, is executive producer of the event.
The haunt is located in Hudson Park, 44 Wildcliff Road in New Rochelle. Plenty of free parking is available.
