On Tuesday, March 21 at 7 p.m. in the Englewood Library's Mackay Room, author and speaker Evan Weiner discusses the early years of women in moden comedy. Comedy had always been a man’s world according to the bookers and talent agents but some women did manage to open the door with Phyllis Diller credited to be the first real woman standup comic, although there were others before her, such as Moms Mabley and Jean Carroll. Joan Rivers and many others have followed in this highly competitive field. This program is funded by the Friends of the Friends of the Englewood Library.
