Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue (ROAR) will host its annual gala and fundraising event on September 13 at the Silver Spring Country Club in Ridgefield, CT. This year’s event, “Soaring High at ’25,” celebrates ROAR’s 25th anniversary of saving cats and dogs in need and adopting them to loving families. ROAR Star Award recipients will be honored for their outstanding contributions and exceptional support. Joe Loonan is the 2025 ROAR Community Star Award honoree, and J. McLaughlin is the 2025 ROAR Business Star Award honoree.
All proceeds from the event will support ROAR’s mission to find loving homes for the cats and dogs that are fortunate to come under their care. Tickets can be purchased online at www.roar-ridgefield.org.
Since its inception in 2000, ROAR has saved and found loving homes for close to 6,000 cats and dogs and provided food, shelter, medical care and emotional support to countless animals. The generous, ongoing support of donors, sponsors and volunteers allows ROAR to continue rescuing dogs and cats each year from multiple U.S. states, Puerto Rico and Honduras.
At the Gala, ROAR will recognize Joe Loonan as the 2025 ROAR Community Star Award honoree. Joe served as a member of ROAR’s Board of Directors for several years and was President of ROAR’s Board from 2016 to 2018. Joe also initiated ROAR’s Jaime Fund with his wife Linda MacDonald as a memorial to their special dog Jaime. The Jaime Fund is reserved for providing veterinary services and medical needs for cats and dogs while they are in ROAR’s care. Joe continues to support ROAR today on important initiatives and community projects. The generosity of Joe and his wife Linda also extends beyond ROAR and Ridgefield with support of numerous nonprofit organizations.
ROAR will also honor J. McLaughlin as its 2025 ROAR Business Star. J. McLaughlin serves as a dedicated ROAR Community Partner, regularly hosting special fundraising events at its Ridgefield store to benefit ROAR. The company's relationship with Ridgefield began in 2020 when the pandemic delayed the opening of their Main Street location. During this time, J. McLaughlin connected with the community by meeting residents and their dogs on the street. This led to meeting with ROAR and developing plans for shopping events and ROAR gala support. Today, J. McLaughlin continues to provide support, treats and style to ROAR and Ridgefield.
The Gala will also feature an auction with items donated by generous local businesses and individuals. Live Auction items will be shown online with bidding to take place at the Gala. The event’s Silent Auction will be open to the public online, giving those who cannot attend the event an opportunity to bid on items from their computers or smartphones. This bidding will start online approximately one week before the event and end at the Gala on September 13th. To register, please visit www.roar-ridgefield.org and then check back to start bidding. Donations to ROAR may also be made on the event website.
