First Dominican Parade and Festival in Connecticut
For the first time, the state of Connecticut will host its First Parade and Dominican Festival, an unprecedented event highlighting the legacy, identity, and strength of the Dominican diaspora in this great state.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, August 17th at 12PM in Bridgeport's Seaside Park. The event is organized by the Dominican American Coalition of Connecticut (DACCT) and Latinos For Educational Advocacy and Diversity (LEAD).
Connecticut joins the list of states that pay tribute to Dominican culture, recognizing its contributions to the social, economic, and cultural development of the states and the country.
It will be the first time in the state's history that a parade of this kind is held, paving the way for future generations of Dominicans in the U.S. with a platform of visibility, identity, and tradition.
The celebration will include family friendly shows, traditional dances, gastronomy, and many surprises in an inclusive and joyful atmosphere. There will special performances by Fefita La Grande and Los Toros Band, two icons of Dominican music, promising to get the audience dancing with the best of merengue and the musical tradition the country has to offer.
