The community is invited to a free film screening on October 17 at 6:45pm of the film The Great Debaters, directed by and starring Denzel Washington and based on true events. The movie tells the story how Blacks fought to join the debate team at Wiley College in Texas in 1935. They eventually succeed and debate Harvard University. Rotten Tomatoes said, “A wonderful cast and top-notch script elevate The Great Debaters beyond a familiar formula for a touching, uplifting drama.” If you want to know the outcome of the debate, please join us!
