Rosemary Flowers-Jackson Poetry Reading
Rosemary Flowers-Jackson is a Bergen County native, born and raised in Hackensack, who worked forty years as a history teacher in the Hackensack School District. She now has a re-released book of poetry, The Preacher’s Wife and Other Selected Poems, which was written during her 42 year marriage to the late Pastor Toney E. Jackson, Sr. The book reflects her varied roles as a teacher, church leader, mother/grandmother, community activist and woman. Her more recent poems, added to this revised edition, address major challenges she faced in 2018, including a stage 4 Ovarian Cancer diagnosis, chemotherapy and the untimely loss of her husband from a ruptured brain aneurysm. Through it all, her faith has kept her and allowed her to use writing as a means to give voice to her inner turmoil.
