Carriage Barn 9/7/24 Annual Art Exhibit with Live Music by Barbara Occhino duo

The public is invited to attend the free 47th Carriage Barn Annual Member Show on September 7, 2024, from 4-6 pm featuring live music with singer Barbara Espinosa Occhino and guitarist Carmine Marino. The exhibit celebrates the range, interests, and talents of artist members working across all subjects, styles, and media. The reception is the largest event of the year, kicking off the exhibit that runs through October 6th. Last year over 300 guests attended to view 175 works of art. The Carriage Barn Arts Center (Betty Barker Gallery), a nonprofit organization, is located at Waveny Park, 681 South Ave, New Canaan, Connecticut. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday from 10am-3pm and Sundays from 1-5pm. A live jazz duo will provide the soothing music to enjoy the art, spirits, and ambiance. Singer Barbara Espinosa Occhino is a multilingual vocalist who has performed locally at The Palace, Stamford Mayor’s After-noon of Jazz, Orchestra Lumos events, galleries, libraries, festivals, yacht clubs, corporate events, and Metro New York area venues (see BarbaraEntertains.com). Carmine Marino is a dynamic guitarist who has performed at The Waldorf, The Bushnell Center for Performing Arts, The Palace, prominent resorts, and notable Manhattan clubs, accompany-ing vocalists like Marion Cowings (New York Philharmonic), Melba Joyce, and Maydie Miles among others. Current and new members of the Carriage Barn Arts Center may submit up to three pieces by August 4, 2024. The complete prospectus and other exhibition events can be found online: CarriageBarn.org. Each year one piece receives a $250 award in honor of Betty Barker (1920-1997), a prolific and accomplished artist who was the driving force in establishing the Carriage Barn Arts Center. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the artistic activities of the New Canaan Society for the Arts. The mission of the New Canaan Society for the Arts, Inc. is to promote the visual and performing arts, and to enrich the community through exhibitions, education, and cultural experiences, and to operate the Carriage Barn Arts Center.
