Honoring Smokey the Bear: 80 Years of Fire Safety

Celebrate Smokey the Bear's 80th Birthday! Smokey Bear's official 80th birthday is August 9, 2024, but fire safety lasts all year long. Since 1944, Smokey Bear has taught millions of Americans about their role in preventing wildfires. We are so excited to welcome back retired Quincy Fire Department Captain Tom Lyons for a discussion about fire safety. His book Fighting Fire: A Proactive Approach is a compilation of some of the 200 articles that he wrote for the Quincy Sun. Lyons also worked with Quincy Access TV to co-produce 40 programs and PSAs, and is recently retired from his second career as the fire safety administrator at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
